‘Walking Drawings’ is an ongoing sketchbook project (2008-now) of landscapes from several trips. Always drawn in ‘Plein air’ with black ink. An early selection of works was shown in 2010 at ‘Wallpiece 10’, a group show ‘Natuur(studie)boek’ on sketch books with several other artists (Rinus Vande Velde, Hannelore Van Dijck, Arpaïs Du Bois, Piet Raemdonck, Jan Stremes,…), curated by Nikolaas Demoen. The publication & exposition ‘Walking Drawings’ is to be released/opened on the 16th of November 2024 @ cultuurhuis Warande, Turnhout, from 17/11/2024 -> 02/03/2025, curated by Glenn Geerinck. Text & interview by Barbara De Coninck. ISBN: 978 94 9126 265 4
Interview fragment: I remember this really unkempt place with thorny bushes and a little brook—an exceptionally fertile spot. There were frogs, which was unusual. One bush was strangely hollow and cast a long shadow, all the way to a rock formation behind it. For a split second, it looked like a black hole, swallowing everything. That moment of revelation has really stayed with me. In my drawings, I want to create order out of chaos by erasing as much as I can. I am forever chasing perfection, without ever managing to grasp it.
